Alton Showers

A university friend is due to be wed this month so off I went to sunny Staffordshire for an action packed hen weekend at Alton Towers!  On the Saturday we were treated to glorious sunshine and a Caribbean lagoon-style water park.  We spent most of the day basking in the outdoor ‘Bubbly Wubbly Pool’ until we had all gained sufficient wrinkles to believe that one of our friends has actually reached that ripe old age of marriage!  It was a lovely day followed by a comedy evening of drinking and debauchery, the downfall of which can only be blamed on the hens unwittingly joining some stags!  The following day involved an early start in driving rain at the theme park itself with some rather sore heads and tired eyes, but we soon came round as we were launched straight from 0 -100 kph in 2.5 seconds on one of the newer rides ‘Rita’, she doesn’t sound particularly scary but apparently she is the queen of speed, and she certainly lived up to her name!   It was a fantastic weekend and I’ve discovered that adrenaline is a fantastic hangover cure!
