It’s about time for a vegan diet progress update from me. Since Jan 1st I’ve tried to stop eating any animal products and I’ve pretty much been able to stick to it. I’ve only been tempted away by the cakes at the Ritz (it was a special occasion!), and pure hunger in an obscure village in the Chilterns. It has been a challenge at times but very doable – mostly thanks to the vegan sausage selection at Wholefoods Market.
There are a whole bunch of sustainability reasons to adopt a vegan diet -and some argue that it’s the single most effective thing an individual can do. The simple fact is that eating meat is inefficient – it takes 16 pounds of grain to produce 1 pound of flesh.
I’ve just received a handy leaflet from the Vegan Society about vegan catering at events – we’ll certainly be putting some of their tips into practice at the forthcoming Sustainable Events Summit.
