Whale mania
There’s been something fishy going on lately, with lots of marine life stories in the news. From an Australian diver escaping a shark attack by poking it in the eye to the discovery of a living shark from pre-historic times in Japan, or the great Jade & Shilpa whale pronunciation debate (whale vs waaaaaaaalll), and the first anniversary of the bottle-nosed whale who swam up the Thames but sadly didn’t survive.
The skeleton of that same whale is currently on display in the Newsroom, along with film footage and pictures of the three days when it captured the nation’s attention. The whale itself is surprisingly small, around 4.5 metres long, and kept in a glass case as it will soon be returing the the Natural History Museum for research purposes.
The exhibition ends this weekend, so go and see London’s first bottle-nosed whale visitor whilst you can.
