Will I never learn…
Will I never learn that leaving my Christmas shopping until the second week of December will only result in a stressful weekend and inappropriate gifts?
This Saturday I met some friends, (not from London I might add) on Oxford Street for some live music and a little Christmas shopping. Despite being pedestrianised Oxford circus could only be likened to a cattle market and I soon regretted being on the streets of central London on a Saturday three weeks before Christmas. Our momentary trip to John Lewis resulted in confusion as my group was split moments from entering the doorway. After re-grouping we decided to find a nice quiet pub away from the madness. Ahh relief, a pint in a gastro-pub on Poland Street and away from the hordes. However, I hadn’t actually bought any Christmas presents! Will I have to return at a later date where the streets will be busier and the shops more frantic!?
I think a change of tack is in order! Online shopping and supporting small independent shops (that are conveniently near my house) will be the only way to ensure a VERY merry Christmas!
