Our work: Chiswick Park Eco Create

Chiswick Park is an impressive office complex in West London whose resident companies include Disney, Foxtons and Starbucks. The site motto is simple – “Enjoy Work.”

The Challenge

We were asked to organise an outdoor eco creative event to run over a 2 hour lunchtime slot for up to 250 people to attend. It was part of the Enjoy Work three month summer time programme of events for employees of the surrounding businesses.

The solution

Seventeen managed all creative aspects of the event from sourcing the yurts and workshop leaders, to planning the capacity of attendees for each workshop. A meticulous plan was put in place to control the logistics of the event to ensure the set up and take down ran within the time slot allocated. We created 5 activity workshops, which took place in yurts which were specially sourced for the day. The activities consisted of candle & perfume making, plate painting, t-shirt printing and an eco engineering challenge. All were selected to encourage guests to reuse, recycle and revamp. Sustainable measures were clearly visible for each activity – soya wax and natural essences were used for the candle making and we collected old teacups to reuse as the candle holders. Second-hand crockery was used for the plate painting. Fairtrade and organic cotton t-shirts with non toxic paints were used for the t-shirt screen printing. Dragon’s Den winner Max MacMurdo from Reestore hosted the eco engineering challenge to construct a wind turbine from ‘junk’ donated from the local businesses including Starbucks cups.

The results

This was our first opportunity to work at Chiswick Park. Our client was impressed with the way we themed, dressed and managed the outdoor space within a limited time slot. Our sustainable approach & creative event design meant costs were kept low whilst we produced a fun and attention grabbing event.
