Our work: Wandsworth Inward Investment

Wandsworth has a long history of encouraging foreign investment in to London, and has established itself as one of the top performing councils in the country.

The Challenge

We have worked on previous successful projects for Wandsworth Borough Council and have a good relationship with the Economic Development Office team. We were asked to organise and manage an exclusive reception for 150 delegates hosted by The Mayor of Wandsworth to celebrate the achievements of the borough and to highlight the opportunities for further growth and expansion.

The solution

Seventeen researched and invited Ambassadors and commercial attachés from the main economic countries with embassies in London. This created a unique opportunity for them to mingle with businesses who have already tasted success in Wandsworth, as well as hearing from high level speakers in an informal setting.

From the outset we ensured that the style of the event projected a formal yet creative image whilst being ethically and environmentally aware. The event took place in the stunning surroundings of the Tayo Ito Pavillion at Battersea Power Station.

All catering was locally sourced and included organic canapés and beer from the local brewery, Young’s. We also gave local businesses the opportunity to showcase their products by contributing to a goody bag given out to the guests.

Sustainable initiatives introduced at this event included low energy LED lighting which created a stunning effect within the glass building. We sourced environmentally friendly portable toilets and used ethical florists to provide British, seasonal flowers.

The results

We have since worked with Wandsworth Borough Council on several other occasions including the Green and Heartbeat Awards 2010. Since the event the US Embassy have relocated to the Nine Elms area of the borough, and the area’s success in development and foreign investment continues at a strong pace.
